A Message From Our Founder
Since childhood, I have had a burning desire to work with, help and care for animals in need.
A sad reminder of this was when my family moved into our new house and our beloved,"Kitty" left home. Imagine my four-year old' daughter Lauren's distress as we searched high and low for her pet. We assured her, however, that the tattoo that "Kitty" had would hasten her safe return.
Days went by and we finally realized that the new neighbourhood would not know about the embedded microchip and might not know where to take her to have the chip scanned, even if she was found. We knew there had to be a better way of finding a lost animal and after much soul searching, the idea for "Protect-A-Pet" began to evolve.
What if, we wondered, a central registry was formed that would tie all the pet's pertinent information into an all-encompassing database, easily accessible and time-saving. We shared our thoughts and concerns with veterinarians and other pet lovers who embraced the idea enthusiastically and "Protect-A-Pet" was born.
